Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices, marketing, and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues. Under the supervision of the Creative Director, the Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for designing and preparing forms, brochures, flyers, and other marketing and communications publications to support and advance the Division of Student Affairs at UCI and works with the team to focus on UCI and UC priorities to enrich the student co-curricular learning experience. The Marketing & Communications Specialist will assist with content development, writing and editing for emails, websites and supporting materials. The incumbent will create layouts and graphics as needed and maintains relationships and works closely with vendors for publishing. This position develops and maintains effective relationships with staff from Student Affairs units in addition to staff and students across campus.
Compensation Range:
$53,500 - $78,600

Required:
3-5 years' experience in a professional design capacity
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to research, identify, and analyze trends and new technologies to make recommendations on new promotional campaigns. Ability to create, design, and illustrate necessary materials such as graphics, photographs, layouts, merchandise, signage and other visuals. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to coordinate with students, campus departments and off campus representatives. Thorough knowledge of applicable publishing software applications. Working knowledge of marketing principles. Ability to handle small to large multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work with and around timelines, needs, and challenges with the ability to multi-task projects and be flexible with changing timelines and program needs. Time and project management skills to effectively establish priorities and meet competing deadlines. Strong skills to effectively produce visual materials that meet and satisfy the needs of the client.
Preferred:
Strong skills in originating and maintaining databases for desktop publishing and image storage. Skills in HTML, content management system and web authoring best practices. Strong skills in collaboration to best meet project goals and objectives of clients. Strong skills in interpersonal communications to interact effectively with a variety of clients, support staff and vendors. Professional and academic training in graphic design and fine arts, photography, computer aided design, and editorial practices.
Special Conditions Required:
Must be able to work occasional evenings, weekends and special events. Must submit a portfolio with application.
