Department Information
The Auxiliary Marketing and Communications team of six full-time professionals and three student interns provides a full range of services to the departments listed below.
In addition to websites, social media, and Salesforce marketing accounts, we also provide copy writing, graphic design, marketing planning and implementation, photography, and videography services.
Our clients are direct service operations of the university that include Bradford Woods, Campus Bus, ClassPak Custom Publishing, Campus Mail Services, Document Services, Early Childhood Education Services (child care), Fleet Services, IU Dining, IU Catering, Parking Operations, Residential Services and Programs (housing), Surplus Store, and Transportation Demand Management.

Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Develops, writes, posts, and monitors original content for university social media accounts at the program, department, campus, or university level to advance the image, reputation, and reach of the organization.
Develops and updates social media content and monitors brand's social networks, responding to comments and collecting feedback from audiences.
Creates comprehensive plans for social media engagement, including conducting market research to identify social media sites preferred by target audiences, engaging types of posts, and peak engagement posting times.
Evaluates effectiveness of social media on a variety of metrics, such as changes in website traffic, attendance at social media marketed events, and engagement by platform, audience, and type of post.
Regularly consults with staff, faculty, colleagues, departments, and/or other stakeholders to curate social media content to specific programs, goals, audiences, and objectives.
Provide organizational training on social media methodology and strategy.
Managment of digital signage.
General Responsibilities
Reviews social media content for various communications needs, audiences, and platforms.
Posts approved content, monitors comments and feedback for trends, and reports issues to supervisor as needed.
Under supervision, reviews and corrects basic grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and syntax errors in draft social media posts; may respond to basic and progressively more complex social media comments on behalf of the department.
May draft routine social media content to be reviewed and approved by supervisor.
May provide guidance to other Social Media Assistants; may make process recommendations to supervisor.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
