The Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience will report to the Senior Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience. This position will oversee the marketing plan development and implementation, ticket sales, sponsor activation and game presentation for Men’s Basketball and Field Hockey. The Director will also collaborate with the Senior Assistant AD to establish creative marketing and advertising strategies centered around maximizing revenue generation.
Additional responsibilities include: Oversight of Associate Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience; assist the Senior Assistant AD with media trade; partner with Associate Director of Communications to coordinate social media marketing campaigns; collaborate with Broadcasting & Production unit to create TV and radio spots that promote ticket sales, as well as creative in-game video elements that maximize both student-athlete and fan experience; planning/promotion/execution of Maryland Basketball preseason events, including the Midnight Mile & Open Practice; direct involvement in creative fan engagement and branding initiatives; collaborate with the Athletic Ticket Office and the fan relationship management center (FRMC) to develop ticket sales campaigns and identify new prospects to maximize revenue generation; serve as Athletic Department’s liaison to The Pride student group; serve as Maryland Athletics representative on the University’s Terps After Dark committee (centered around providing alcohol-free events to 1st year students on campus) and Maryland Day planning committee, assisting campus constituents in the planning and execution of numerous student and community-focused events; oversight of student worker(s) responsible for Track & Field and Tennis marketing; other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in sports management, marketing, advertising or other related field and a minimum of three (3) years of sports marketing experience is required. Must be Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Photoshop and must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends.
Preferences: Two (2) years of sports marketing experience at the NCAA Division I or professional sports level is preferred.
