Department Information
The Office of Admissions is the front-facing department to the public for undergraduate recruitment for the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The Office of Admissions is responsible for recruiting the freshman class each year, counseling prospective students and their families about the admissions process, providing accurate information to the public about our recruiting requirements and standards, and marketing Indiana University Bloomington.
Job Summary
Assists the Marketing Team with social media applications, website management, and print and email communications.
Assists with marketing and communications activities such as writing and developing emails, updating and creating new content for the website, developing print pieces, taking photographs, and preparing photographs for inclusion in emails and the website, etc.
Monitors Admissions social media and post and/or tweet as needed (including weekends); answers questions from students and parents within hours of their posting/tweeting; assists with any social media applications being used at specific events.
Assists with the development and implementation of campaigns by developing and integrating social media components, emails, website elements, video, or other campaign activities and channels as needed.
Participates in the development and implementation of on- and off-campus recruitment initiatives.
Participates in the day-to-day operations of the Office of Admissions, i.e., greeting visitors, assisting with visitor questions, checking in visitors, and answering questions from prospective and admitted students in person, over the phone, and through email.
Assists with any of the following on an as-needed basis: campus tours and presentations, host visits, special on-campus programs, and front desk duties.
Attends all meetings and training sessions for student interns and other meetings/trainings as requested.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
2 years of experience working in a fast-paced, complex customer service area.
Preferred
Experience in a higher education setting.
SKILLS
Required
Proven ability to perform various tasks simultaneously with consistently high accuracy while dealing with the public in a high volume, high stress environment.
Ability to exert a consistent positive temperament with continuous public interaction.
Demonstrated analytical ability to resolve both administrative and procedural problems.
Ability to exert initiative, reliability, flexibility, and positive attitude while handling stressful situations and confidential information and materials.
Ability to exhibit competence, patience, and tact in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
Knowledge of the university's admissions requirements.
Knowledge of the university's academic programs and academic record keeping systems.
Working knowledge of IU systems and policies and procedures.
Excellent communication skills using a variety of mediums, keyboarding skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook and other tools, office equipment, and resources.
