Have experience in the field of genetic disease research, but interest in a commercial role at the world's leading provider for genomics solutions?

As our Regional Segment Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for developing market opportunities in the Americas for genetic disease (with a focus on cardiovascular, but also neurological, metabolic). Key objectives include regular assessments of market dynamics, understanding customer requirements, supporting the sales organization, and establishing relationships with a variety of stakeholders (key opinion leaders, translational and clinical researchers, and internal Illumina functions) in order to build-out and implement a go-to-market strategy for the Americas, which includes US, Canada, and Latin America. 

The role also involves a high-level of collaboration with the Americas programs team and global segment marketing team to establish compelling messaging and positioning for Illumina products and services in the genetic disease research space, create awareness, generate demand, and enable the sales team through expert guidance, sales tools and trainings.

Responsibilities include

• Construct and own the genetic disease research strategic plan and its execution, key market focus tactics, product launches, and to plan and execute other marketing communications, events and promotional activities to meet, or ideally exceed, goals and revenue targets.
• Segment the genetic disease market, identify opportunities (disease areas/applications) for growth based on market size and penetration.
• Within the region, be primary point of contact for utilization of product and application solutions in the genetic disease research space, facilitating inbound and outbound communication, and ensuring alignment and partnership with internal stakeholders.
• Solicit and consolidate input from customers and field staff to provide in-depth market analysis and insight regarding customer and market needs, issues and opportunities.
• Develop sets of sales enablement tools that provide guidance on product messaging and positioning, objection handling and identifying target customers.
• Assess training needs and coordinate training opportunities and execution across the region.
• Work collaboratively with numerous other functions across the company, including Market Development, Global Marketing, Sales, Scientific-, Medical- and Governmental Affairs, Market Access and other functions to drive and promote market development and market penetration.
• Execute partnerships and co-marketing agreements as needed.
• Provide regular market information and analyses to the leadership team on a regular basis (monthly and/or quarterly).
• Proactively identify and enhance opportunities to improve customer satisfaction with Illumina’s products through sound technical, product and application knowledge.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in marketing, sales and/or market development in life sciences, or related industries required.
• Experience and understanding of genomic technologies, next-generation sequencing, and how they can be utilized specifically for genetic disease research is preferred.
• Genomics experience in cardiovascular disease is a plus.
• A deep understanding of the research to clinical continuum.
• Must have strong analytical skills and ability to connect detailed analysis to larger strategy.
• Must have demonstrated effective collaboration in matrixed or highly cross-functional business settings.
• Must have demonstrated track record of delivering effective and strategic marketing plans for products on market.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to persuade.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
