The CFA Society Washington, DC (CFAW) is an association of 2,000+ investment professionals whose mission is to facilitate a vibrant, engaged community that advances members’ professional success. CFAW is a professional membership society, an affiliate of the CFA Institute, and the Washington, DC region’s premiere organization for the financial investment industry.
We are seeking a full-time, detail oriented, team player to join our association office in Washington, DC. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the success of the Society by working collaboratively with staff, committees, speakers, and other stakeholders throughout the year. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for the implementation and management of all marketing and communication operations for the Society.
This position is responsible for all elements of the Society’s marketing and communication, including collateral, online newsletters, website, email campaigns and messaging across CFAW’s social media platforms.
Additionally, this position directs marketing initiatives and develops communication plans to achieve strategic business goals; builds relationships with CFAW members; clearly communicates the value of membership to potential, new and current members; and supports the efforts of volunteer committees.
Qualified candidates will be energetic, forward-thinking and have a strong eye for detail with excellent organizational skills. They will need to work quickly and efficiently on several projects at one time, be result oriented, and have strong time management skills. The ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy for interacting with staff, CFAW leaders, vendors, members, and the public.
Serve as primary contact for all member inquiries
Support the development of integrated membership campaigns (email, website, and online advertising)
Serve as staff liaison for External Relations committee and Member Engagement committee
Assist committee chairs in scheduling meetings and coordinating logistics for committee goals and activities
Assist in the active recruitment and engagement of volunteers
Develop and maintain expert level familiarity with the membership database
Produce routine and special requested reports from the database
Develop, manage, and maintain a rolling 6-month Communication Plan that outlines all scheduled communications to members
Manage production of weekly online newsletter and bi-monthly event update
Develop and distribute dedicated email messages regarding projects and programs as appropriate and on a pre-established schedule
Manage the design and creation of print collateral
Utilize social media as a regular platform for communicating with the CFAW membership and financial investment community at large
Promote and engage members to increase use of CFAW social media platforms
Maintain an effective, inviting, and visually appealing CFAW website
Continually monitor and edit the website, ensuring priority items are featured, older information is updated or removed, and all weblinks work
Ensure accurateness and relevancy of all information on the website
Coordinate the volunteer management of member online communities
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field preferred, or related experience
Proven project management skills
Excellent proofing skills
Advanced knowledge of marketing principles, strategies, and tactics
Advanced knowledge of digital communication and marketing automation
Experience leveraging social media platforms in a business setting – LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter
Proficiency with association management software – Salesforce preferred
Desired tech stack: Constant Contact, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, WordPress, CVENT, HigherLogic, Feathr, Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud a plus
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Self-directed, works independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work well under pressure and think outside the box when needed
