The Charleston Symphony (CSO) is seeking a full-time Development/Marketing Coordinator to assist in fundraising and community awareness efforts as we seek to inspire and engage others through exceptional musical performances and educational programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Database Management & Stewardship
Maintain and update donor and patron information.
Responsible for processing donations in a prompt and accurate manner.
Coordinate acknowledgment letters for gifts of all sizes to ensure CSO donors are thanked within 48 hours of entry.
Assist in all phases of planning and execution for marketing and development events.
Cultivate patrons at concerts and events as a representative of the Charleston Symphony.
Grants & Research
Assist in managing a portfolio of government, foundation, and corporate grants.
Update and maintain grants calendar regularly to verify deadlines for applications and reports.
Research new grant opportunities to expand potential sources of funding for the CSO.
Research and prepare prospect profiles for individuals and corporate entities.
Marketing & Communications
Assist in the planning and implementation of grassroots marketing and other activities to leverage community resources and increase awareness of the CSO.
Support the organization’s digital strategies and efforts including social media, eblasts, and website.
Create and implement an SEO strategy for www.charlestonsymphony.org.
Provide assistance with content creation, proofreading, and other communications activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree and previous experience with nonprofits is desirable.
Robust computer skills required (ex: proficient in Microsoft Office software including Excel, fundamental knowledge of CRM platforms).
Excellent communication skills and customer service.
Familiarity with Adobe and web editing highly desirable.
Knowledge of, or interest in learning, current and emerging social media trends.
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment.
Must be available for work on some evenings and weekends (performances, donor events, community engagements, etc.).
A passion for the arts and classical music is a must!
The CSO is a full-time orchestra, presenting exceptional Masterworks and Pops concerts at the Gaillard Center and chamber music programs throughout the greater Charleston area. The Symphony also provides a robust range of education and outreach activities for students of all ages throughout the year. The organization employs 36 musicians, administrative, and artistic staff.
