MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST, School of Medicine, Department of Medicine

This position will be responsible for all internal central communication for the Department of Medicine (DOM). This will include sending out email announcements, creating newsletters, news posts on websites and social media, announcement slides for departmental faculty meetings, etc. The coordinator will manage the DOM website and social media accounts, ensuring news, events and announcements are regularly broadcast and up-to-date. They will liaise with Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) & Boston Medical Center (BMC) Communications offices to ensure that DOM communications are distributed campus-wide. The coordinator will also serve as the backup administrative support for the Chair's office which may include calendar management, coordinating travel or meetings and other general office management duties.
This position will regularly assess marketing and communications needs in the DOM and make recommendations to improve and enhance both areas. They will also be responsible for the developing and leading the implementation of plans to improve and enhance marketing and communications. Communication Manages internal communication within the department including but not limited to weekly emails, special announcements, flat screen announcements and faculty meeting announcements. Coordinates with BUSM & BMC communications to ensure DOM communications are distributed campus-wide. Manages departmental newsletter. Works with BUSM & BMC Development to develop proposals, program plans, marketing materials, acknowledgement letters and other written materials to assist DOM in meeting fundraising goals.
Additional projects include but are not limited to newsletters, annual reports, event promotion materials, brochures, flyers, etc. Website / Social Media Management Manages department's social media and digital media presence and projects. Maintains, updates and monitors analytics for the DOM website. Coordinates and collaborates with BMC/BU marketing departments to optimize online marketing opportunities for DOM and specific departments/services as well as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Administration Serves as face of Chairs Office; greets visitors and appointments that enter the Chairman's suite and answers any questions, answers the phone, etc. Office management; orders supplies, maintains conference rooms & schedules, checks mail, etc. Periodic executive level calendar support. Provides backup administration support for the office of the Chair.
Required Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience: 3-5 Years
