The Communications and Marketing team's core mission is to elevate and reinforce the value of the UC Berkeley School of Public Health in the hearts and minds of key stakeholders by telling its stories; safeguarding its brand; and ensuring that the School is part of the collective conversation around health, education, and research. Our three main areas of ownership are School-Level Brand/Identity Stewardship, Content/Storytelling, and Web/Multimedia. The team also provides strategic communications and marketing support to clients throughout the school so they can fulfill their missions and objectives.
Researches, analyzes, monitors and evaluates marketing and/or sales efforts for effectiveness, reporting results to appropriate higher levels of administration.
Establishes and maintains contacts with internal and external marketing professionals and vendors; e.g., artists, designers, photographers, mailing houses, postal service, list brokers, advertising representatives, media contacts, etc.
Under minimal supervision, manages and executes comprehensive communication programs and projects, including written, visual, and digital communications.
Responsible for managing the twice-monthly newsletter, Berkeley Public Health News.
Creates, develops, edits, proofreads, and maintains written and visual assets, including press releases, branding materials, graphics, newsletters, and other electronic communications.
Maintains a consistent look and feel throughout web properties, social media, blog, design, and collateral materials.
Supervises student assistants.
Coordinates all social media for the School of Public Health and the Online MPH program.
Provides periodic staff training as necessary.
Participate in workshops, trainings and other professional development opportunities.
Other duties, as assigned.
Thorough written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills, including a strong sense of a good story and understanding of the topics that may be of interest to various publics and will incorporate key location messages.
Experience effectively communicating across a variety of news and media platforms.
Strong project management skills.
Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills.
Experience using communications tools such as Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), Salesforce, Constant Contact, Google Drive, Canva, Hootsuite, Microsoft Office, and Google suite.
Graphic design skills and video editing skills.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Thorough knowledge of or ability to quickly learn the School of Public Health, including its achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives and infrastructure.
Skill in mentoring less experienced staff.
Basic public health subject knowledge.
Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is $79,000.00, commensurate with experience.
