The Marketing and Sponsorship Manager provides comprehensive and thorough support to the City of Starkville’s Parks and Recreation Department. Work involves developing, implementing, maintaining and coordinating Marketing Strategy’s, generating commercial sponsorship opportunities and serving as a liaison with internal and external departments and organizations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Oversee implementation of the marketing strategy which includes campaigns, events, digital marketing, and public relations. Creates marketing and communication strategies for the organization.
Coordinate and direct marketing projects and major events from start to finish.
Plan, create, schedule and monitor the Park District group of social media platforms to enhance community interaction and keep the public informed.
Conducts research and analyzes trends in services offered to develop marketing strategies for new and existing services. Develops and builds brand strategy and awareness.
Develop surveys, focus groups and performs marketing analysis to identify needs and wants of various market(s).
Oversee development and execution of long- and short-term marketing plans and campaigns; oversee branding initiatives
Graphically designs marketing materials within the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator) for various mediums. The materials must be appealing, informative, creative and consistent with the brands established.
Assists in the monitoring and updating of accurate online information through our organizational websites under the direction of the Director.
Analyze market research statistics, customer information and consumer demographics to gain insight into customers’.
Works closely with management team to define marketing materials and programs.
Launches and maintains commercial sponsorship with businesses by establishing and meeting their marketing objectives.
Manages social media presence and directs programs to improve social media reputation and recognition.
Prepares, justifies, and submits annual budget resource requirements. Monitors expenditures and uses cost-benefit thinking to set priorities. Oversee vendor contracts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Develop sales strategies and facilitate sponsorships.
Create sponsorship packages and offerings that provide value and recognition to a wide variety of corporate and community partners.
In collaboration with the Director provide stewardship for potential and existing sponsors, manage relationships with current sponsors and partners, including tracking in donor databases, executing letters of agreement, benefits fulfillment, reporting, and ongoing cultivation and engagement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
In applying marketing policies, procedures, methods, and publicity techniques; conducting market research to identify trends and customer needs; planning activities/events in support of promotional strategies and commercial sponsorship. Ability to communicate effectively (orally & written).
Previous supervisory experience and/or knowledge of Services programs are highly desirable.
Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, Personnel, Departmental and City policies and procedures in area assigned.
Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling and math.
Ability to maintain records; prepare reports; manipulate spread sheets; and answer questions from records in a timely and accurate manner.
Ability to work with confidential information and prioritize, coordinate, and organize work.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in both small and large groups, and in formal and informal settings.
Ability to understand and interpret departmental rules, regulations, procedures, and instructions both orally and in writing.
Ability to interact with the public and provide information in a polite and courteous manner both in person and on the telephone.
Ability to be bonded.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Marketing, Business or related field.
At least one year of experience within a governmental setting.
CPR/First Aid Certification.
Additional Salary Information: •Employee coverage is 100% paid by the City of Starkville for medical and dental – effective 30 days from hire date.
•Option of purchasing dependent/family coverage.
•Other voluntary supplemental insurance coverage (i.e., vision, short-term disability, etc.) is available through a cafeteria plan (pre-tax payroll deductions). An agent will meet with you during the first 30 days of employment to discuss options.
•Employees cannot make mid-year changes, unless a family status event occurs, such as marriage, divorce, death, birth/adoption of a child, or spousal job change. Employees must notify the Human Resources Department within 30 days of the family status event in order to make the change. After 30 days, no changes are allowed.
