Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Technology Marketing Manager for the Office of Technology Commercialization. As an integral member of the Innovation Ventures Team, the Technology Marketing Manager role supports the Innovation Ventures team members through a variety of activities. In support of the Licensing team, the position works to identify industry partners with an interest in commercializing scientific technologies in the Rutgers Intellectual Property Portfolio and preparing all of the related marketing materials in consultation with the licensing manager and the inventor. The position is responsible for planning, managing and executing marketing activities as well as the use of web and social media for promoting the technologies in the portfolio.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Helps automate marketing processes, further integrates with our operational database, Inteum, and is responsible for web and digital marketing efforts for new technologies.
Provides support to the New Ventures group by ensuring that all information related to Rutgers Start-Up companies is up to date on the website.
Serves as a liaison between Rutgers Innovation Ventures team and other Research units to ensure that new content is created and shared broadly with the goal of promoting Rutgers innovations.
Develops and work to promote the services and programs offered by the Rutgers Innovation Ventures team to the Rutgers community broadly.
Works closely and interact effectively with inventors, staff, and external entities (companies, consultants), demonstrating sound technical and functional judgement, interpersonal and communications skills.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Masters Degree in Sciences and/or Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and/ or related experience.
A minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience communicating scientific research, and/or science-based products, services or technologies.
Ability to quickly learn and perform thorough tech-market and commercial assessments in broad range of technologies.
Ability to organize and manage a heavy workload, multiple concurrent projects, and a wide range of technologies. Ability to function as an effective team player.
Excellent writing, proofreading, editing and verbal communications skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with scientists and industrial researchers.
Ability to develop and make coherent and compelling public presentations.
Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn.
Ability to work independently or part of a team.
Exhibit strong intellectual curiosity in a broad range of technologies.
Committed to providing accurate information and high-quality work.
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Ph.D. in a scientific field or MBA.
Experience with digital marketing, customer relationship and marketing automation tools as well as web and content management tools, SEO, etc.
Working knowledge of patents and intellectual property or experience with research commercialization/technology transfer in either academic or industrial environments.
Hands-on science/technology marketing or management experience in academic or industrial environments is desirable.
Ability to perform tech-market assessment of innovations (from scientific research); experience in marketing and coordinate multidisciplinary collaborations.
Hands-on science/technology licensing or management experience in academic or industrial environments is desirable.
Software and programs for routine reporting and presentation work (Excel, PPT); Digital marketing and marketing automation tools such as Salesforce, Zoominfo, Website Content Management tools, Web Analytics and SEO, etc.
