Our client, the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), helps find solutions to pressing public health issues and they are seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing to be responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing campaigns, providing strategic insight into all marketing functions to drive company growth and exposure. The Assistant Director will build and lead a robust staff, form strategic relationships with stakeholders from ASM's high-profile programs, and provide new and strategic direction for the Society.
Major Responsibilities include:
Develop and execute strategic marketing campaigns for ASM to drive sustained growth in scientific publishing, membership, meetings and other key products, programs, and services.
Develop recommendations and oversee adherence to budgets for assigned activities and business lines.
Leverage data and insights to identify key marketing opportunities including developing new audiences for the Society’s offerings.
Manage and implement enterprise marketing strategy including the organization’s brand identity.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with ASM staff and leaders to ensure the marketing department achieves desired levels of impact, including meeting revenue and performance goals.
Oversee key vendors and partners to execute enterprise-level services, audits, and consulting partnerships and inform new strategic directions for the Society.

Qualified candidates will offer a bachelor's degree in Marketing or similar discipline plus a minimum of ten years of experience in leading marketing for a scientific organization with an understanding of professional associations and five years of supervisory experience. ASM is seeking a strong communicator with deep understanding of the scientists and scientific publishing. This leader will bring successful digital marketing and content strategy experience that includes facilitation, budget development, contract management, and reporting experience. Successful candidates will possess excellent proficiency in project management, strategic thinking, market intelligence, and business analytics and will have experience leading teams and managing multiple projects and competing priorities at once.
