Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSEDirect and implement marketing communications, and advertising efforts for the School of Medicine.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide marketing leadership and strategic direction for the School of Medicine. Manage and control day-to-day office activities to assist in creating a collaborative working environment with WSU administrators, faculty, staff, students and volunteers.Lead the marketing strategy plan, increasing the stature and reputation of the School of Medicine, its students, alumni, faculty, research initiatives and overall core values. Collaborate with School of Medicine and Office of Marketing and Communications to create content for current and emerging media. Develop annual tracking protocol to evaluate success.Create communications in various media for the School of Medicine that reflect the brand and competitively position the school. Responsible for content strategy and content creation in all advertising, digital, social media, brochures, emails, and publications for dissemination to external audiences.Oversee all marketing and communication budget activities, including planning, directing, and overseeing the marketing and communication budget preparation process, long and short term planning, cost projections, and budget estimates. Review and edit existing content for marketing effectiveness, cross-selling implications and adherence to brand guidelines. Make changes to increase impact. Lead the school's website strategy plan to best position and promote the School of Medicine's online presence, including messaging, design and maintenance of the web site and on line social networking sites. Perform other administrative duties as assigned, as well as participate in special projects, research and assignments. Supervise part-time support personnel.Hire, discipline, evaluate and provide training for assigned personnel. Determine staffing levels, make work assignments and oversee workflow to improve operational efficiencies.
Qualifications: EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Communications or Marketing; Master's degree in Marketing or Communications preferred.EXPERIENCE5-8 years experience in marketing and communications role (with higher education and/or medical preferred). Marketing management and strategic planning experience; a proven track record in developing and administering a marketing/communications program. Sample of work required.Experience in generating content for the website, articles, newsletters, press releases and internal communications.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESMANAGEMENT SKILLS: Ability to set and implement a self-directed agenda. Consensus building skills. Excellent ability to prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management in Client organizations throughout the University.ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP; Ability to plan and set strategic direction for marketing and communication efforts and the ability to work and lead a variety of people and situations. Excellent written and oral communication skills.TECHNICAL SKILLS: Strong copy writing, editing and proofreading skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, often under tight deadlines. Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and possess top level business management, interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills. COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications.
