MBA MARKETING SUMMER INTERNSHIP
The MBA Intern Program is based at headquarters in El Segundo, CA. The internship runs 10-12 weeks, and consists of three core elements:
Individual: Day-to-day and special project responsibilities within one of our current finance teams.
Group: Work in a cross-functional intern group on a project that will be presented to senior management at the end of the internship.
Networking: Various information sessions, field trips, meet & eat lunches with executives, and networking events.
A Mattel marketing intern will be hired into one of the following marketing areas on a particular brand or account:
Brand Team: Responsible for global brand management by creating and developing global brand strategy, content, product, and communication assets to drive sell in and sell through.
Customer Marketing (Omnichannel): Lead shopper solutions for all brands, focusing on Walmart, Amazon, Target, and Emerging Channels. Develop brand retailer strategy aligned to account needs, focus on channel management, plan and execute promotions, and optimize digital retail for shopper conversion.
US Brand Activation (Commercial Marketing): Activate global brand campaigns at the local level across categories. Develops and executes overall go-to-market strategy and activation for the U.S., having responsibility over areas such as annual planning, line selection, pricing, media and local partnerships.
Responsibilities will vary based on placement and may include:
New Product Development
Marketing Program Development and/or Execution
Analysis and Action
Promotional planning and execution
Identify opportunities through shopper & consumer insights
Partner with various groups including Sales, Insights, Design, etc.
Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
Self-starter able to set own course, manage multiple priorities and seek assistance as needed
Demonstrated positive attitude, sees challenges as opportunities and translates them into actionable items
Basic reporting and analytic skills, both quantitative and qualitative, with strong attention to detail
General understanding of the business objectives related to marketing, brand management and customer marketing
Basic understanding of Social Media universe including Facebook, YouTube, Google+, etc.
Demonstrated understanding of standard marketing techniques
Ability to differentiate and create compelling positioning statements and relevance for our consumers and customers
Basic understanding of annual financial plans
Ability to provide strategic direction and feedback to cross-functional teams (e.g. product packaging, visual merch, etc.)
Demonstrated leadership ability
Excellent written/verbal, time management and quantitative/analytical skills required
Demonstrated strong presentation skills with a persuasive nature
1st year MBA student enrolled in a full-time program or 2nd year part-time MBA student graduating in 2021
Minimum 2 years work experience
Proficient in Excel and Power Point
Interest in toys, dolls, cars, games, entertainment or action figures in Mattel’s portfolio of Brands
Experience presenting to small & large audiences
1-2 years Marketing or CPG experience
