Reporting to the OVPIT Communications Officer, serves as marketing and communications project manager for high-priority projects related to Research and Education (R&E) Networks. Clients will include GlobalNOC, International Networks at IU, I-Light and the Indiana GigaPop. These IU initiatives provide fee-based services to external clients, customers, and partners in academia, industry and government. This position will work in partnership with the GlobalNOC Business Development team to research and analyze potential markets for services, then develop communication and marketing plans to best reach their target audiences, lead the development and production of marketing and communication products, and measure and evaluate the effectiveness of those campaigns.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned communications strategist with superior writing/editing skills and a demonstrated ability to independently lead high-level, external marketing and communication projects with a high degree of tact and professionalism. Candidates should have an interest in learning about technology, and the ability to understand and communicate complex IT topics effectively to a lay audience. Experience in communications for the technology sector is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will have proven experience developing and executing marketing and communication plans targeting external audiences in order to drive new sales and partnerships. They will have experience providing direction to project team members, including graphic designers, multimedia/video professionals, web developers, other writer/editors, media relations and social media professionals, and event planners to plan, produce, and distribute a wide range of communication materials.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or other related field and three years of professional experience managing high-level external communications at a corporation or other organization. Experience directing project teams of communications professionals.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Experience superior writing/editing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly for a variety of technical, academic, professional, and lay audiences. Experience working with and producing content for a variety of media, including news outlets, the web, print, multimedia, and social media. Be comfortable working in the Microsoft Office Suite and using content-sharing platforms such as Box or Google Docs, project management systems, and web content management systems. Generally comfortable with technology, and eager to learn to use new software, tools, and platforms as they emerge.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Occasional travel may be required to support events and attend conferences.
