The CRSO Industry Communications Manager is responsible for oversight of the team that builds and executes effective traditional and digital communication strategies to promote efforts aimed at improving and modernizing the nation’s payments capabilities. The overarching goal for the manager and his/her team is to elevate the Federal Reserve’s position and effectiveness as an industry catalyst and thought leader within the payments ecosystem.
The Manager will be responsible for planning and managing robust integrated communications strategies aimed at industry stakeholders to raise awareness, encourage support and drive action on a range of payment improvement issues and efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience planning and implementing paid/earned/owned social media campaigns, and will have demonstrated content marketing and digital marketing expertise, in addition to strong written and verbal communications skills. This position will provide oversight and direction for an internal editorial board that informs an ongoing web content strategy, in addition to a variety of thought leadership efforts currently underway.
The Manager will also be responsible for developing and coaching staff and building/maintaining a strong team culture in a fast paced, agile environment, along with developing optimal work processes/procedures that adhere to Federal Reserve polices.
This position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Industry Communications. The level of work required is considered advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision. This job has direct reports.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising or journalism or equivalent agency experience
Experience preferred in digital content strategy; media relations; b2b marketing; integrated communications (paid/earned/owned)
Experience executing media relations and social media strategies
MBA and/or advanced degree preferred
7-10 years or more of relevant experience, management and agency experience preferred
Proven experience working and leading teams in a highly complex, geographically diverse, and matrixed organization and supporting a strong teamwork environment
History of successfully taking on responsibility, delivering results, and implementing large programs and projects
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Leads teams to promote Federal Reserve payment system improvement efforts to payment industry audiences through integrated communications strategies
Develops strategic campaigns that raise the Fed’s visibility as a leader catalyst by engendering industry support and awareness of key payments improvement efforts, and elevating the Fed’s voice as a thought leader in U.S. payment modernization
Builds and maintains strong relationships with industry organizations to achieve strategic objectives
Partners with strategic leaders across the Federal Reserve System to drive industry support and engagement in payment improvement efforts
May lead and/or participate in high impact/priority Customer Relations Support Office work groups focused on department initiatives
Responsible for providing coordination across communications teams, engagement teams, and payments strategy teams across the Federal Reserve in support of payment improvement efforts
Supervise staff by mentoring, motivating, coaching, consistently providing feedback, holding staff accountable and conducting performance reviews and overseeing professional development in both technical skills and leadership competencies
Assist in the creation of policies, processes and metrics that support the achievement of department and Bank objectives
Participates in department strategic planning initiatives, including process improvement efforts
Demonstrates self-awareness and continuous development by seeking out feedback and modifying behavior
Leverages diverse talents, positively impacts culture and engagement, and encourages development of all employees
Manages internal reporting and administration to include annual planning, budget administration, agency resources, performance reporting and communications for governance bodies and system work groups
Manages resources and assigns team members to programs, projects and campaigns
Provides direction to team members on the development of strategic programs, including requirements, goals and success measures for complex programs or services
Identifies, mitigates and resolves internal and external risks and derailments to programs, projects and campaigns
Identifies opportunities for enhancements in existing programs and leads efforts to maximize program effectiveness
Oversees relationships with vendors and agencies and has clear understanding of contract requirements, renewals and billing
Organizes and works independently on multiple assigned tasks/projects and completes assignments within specified deadlines
