An integral member of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee Marketing and Communications team, the Marketing Manager works closely with stakeholders across the entire Berklee organization to plan, direct, and implement marketing and communications initiatives for Boston Conservatory. Serving as the primary marketing resource for campus stakeholders and lead project manager for marketing and communications initiatives, the Marketing Manager advises on best practices, proposes approach and process, and manages people and assets to ensure that tasks are completed on time, within budget, to spec, to satisfaction with stakeholders, and compliant with the Conservatory's institutional brand and quality standards. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Manager also manages team workflows and processes to achieve departmental efficiencies and consistencies, leading the use and upkeep of Asana.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with marketing team colleagues to brainstorm and develop new marketing initiatives that support institutional objectives and departmental goals
Liaise with internal clients across campus and external vendors and serve as the Conservatory's resident marketing expert and lead project manager
Foster and maintain positive and productive working relationships with stakeholders
Manage departmental project workflow, monitoring and evaluating operations and processes to maximize efficiencies and ensure quality control
Direct projects from conception to completion, managing steps, people, and pieces required to ensure that project deliverables are presented on time, within budget, to spec, to satisfaction with stakeholders, and compliant with the Conservatory's institutional standards
Communicate effectively, clearly, and regularly with stakeholders to give regular project updates, progress reports, and direction
Compile and disseminate important information relevant to marketing team efforts and projects and needed
Draft marketing plans, procedures, timelines, and content for marketing projects and campaigns
Devise and manage annual advertisement schedule, securing ad space and favorable pricing, coordinating creative assets, and placing content
Advise on and monitor individual project budgets, recommending adjustments and solutions as needed
Capture key data and prepare reports on marketing and communications campaign performance
Evaluate and vet new project requests, and determine the appropriate level of marketing support
Lead implementation, process, and use of project management software, Asana, serving as primary overseer of Asana for the marketing team and logging all projects consistently
Organize and lead departmental process around a comprehensive and consistent organization and filing of assets throughout academic year
Process departmental invoices
Track overall departmental spending and advise on budget allocation as appropriate
Delegate assignments to staff, students, and vendors, as appropriate
Hire, train, and supervise student employees as needed
Work closely with Boston Conservatory's Lead Graphic Designer to inspire creative that captures the institutional identity and brand while achieving project goals
Assist in the discerning review of messaging, graphics, and brand style of all marketing and communications print and digital content before finalization and distribution
Coordinate and supervise special projects, such as photo or video shoots, as needed
Participate in institutional events, as required
Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in a related field
5+ years of related experience, with a portion of that in a supervisory role
Familiarity with the performing arts and/or higher education
Well-versed in marketing and communications trends, best practices, and platforms, including social media, video, photography, and website strategy
Extensive experience producing content for print and digital mediums
Excellent at managing complex, multifaceted projects and prioritizing time-sensitive tasks
Detailed-oriented, with a keen eye for design
Resourceful and savvy in creative problem-solving
Service-oriented with exceptional interpersonal skills
Clear and tactful communicator, both verbal and written
Good sense of judgement and discretion in managing challenging or sensitive situations
Thrives in a fast-paced, high-project-volume environment
Effective collaborator and project leader
Ability to ascertain and compile key information from various sources and clearly summarize main points and objectives
Flexible and adaptable, willing to learn new tools and skills
Proficiency in Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office, Google Suite platforms, and Asana project management software
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) and website management systems required
Experience with non-profit marketing and communications a plus
