This Communications Coordinator will serve as a resource, providing communications and marketing support to internal constituencies across SEAS. Working as part of a small and cohesive team, under the supervision of the Director of Visual Communications and New Media, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the non-technical maintenance of the school's website (www.seas.harvard.edu) and the creation of a variety of web, print, email, and social media assets.
Some basic support for school event planning and execution will also be required.
This position requires experience in the field of communications; aptitude with the tools of modern communications (see below); graphic design savvy; the innate ability to self-start, task-manage, and work independently as well as with a team; and a level of ease with networking and build strong working relationships across departments and units.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as co-owner of the SEAS website:
Update content: post news stories, identify and report on out of date content and broken links, respond to content-related website tickets, work with other with other offices/departments on the regular maintenance of their pages
Provide basic CMS training and troubleshooting to SEAS website content contributors.
Provide website permissions to SEAS staff as necessary.
Review analytics: monitor and report website analytics back to the group.
Participate in social media asset creation and posting as needed. Monitor and report on social media analytics.
Responsible for content aggregation, list maintenance, and timely distribution of the regularly scheduled email newletters Inside SEAS (weekly) and Newswire (monthly).
Assist with the design and production of print materials including brochures, posters, programs, and other digital assets.
Build PowerPoint presentations for internal and external communication.
Assist director of events with the planning and execution of SEAS-sponsored events, including vendor liaison, on-site coordination, and bill tracking and payment.

A minimum of 3 years' experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Strong written and oral communications skills.
An aptitude for graphic design. Formal design training a strong plus.
An eye for detail as well as proficiency with proofreading and copyediting.
Experience working with websites. Familiarity with web maintenance and/or analytics a plus.
The ability to work occasional extra hours, including evenings and/or weekends, to meet deadlines, support events, or address emergencies is required.
Strong organizational, time and project management skills; attention to detail; problem-solving skills; and the ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Experience with social media a plus.
A willingness and ability to quickly learn new skills and adjust to change is essential.
The position requires a team player who is able to function effectively in a highly complex organizational environment but also able to work independently with minimal supervision.
