Reporting to the Director ofResearch Communications and Marketing, the Communications and MarketingCoordinator in the Office of Research serves as the coordinator of TheUniversity of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) Research publications andsocial media presence.
Writes original material for publication to complement the university's research goals and mission for a variety of audiences. Develops factual information and obtains authentic detail.
Assists in the development of local, regional, national news stories, news pitches, and stories for external and internal publications. Collaborates with University faculty and directors for publication development.
Drafts, reviews, and follows-up with others as needed for articles due within deadline.
Maintains a favorable public image for the university and Offices of Research by developing and managing on a daily basis separate, distinct online communities on social media properties, including Facebook, Blogs, and Twitter.
Researches and stays current in ideas and trends in using social media for managing research development.
Monitors conversations on multiple platforms in an effort to increase followers and engagement. Monitors metrics and trends to analyze the impact and effectiveness of efforts.
Artistically directs and takes photos as needed for social media and other projects.
Develops and produces brochures and publications related to the research enterprise and strategic plan.
Assists in the planning and execution of special events on behalf of the Office of Research and the university such as the Hot Topics in Research, the VCR's Distinguished Lecture Series, UTHSC LEADS, and CORNET Award Ceremonies and Conferences.
Represents department at meetings and public, social, and/or business gatherings as needed.
Cultivates content for the Office of Research websites. Manages and updates Office of Research webpages.
Completes special projects as assigned by the Director of Research Communications and the Vice Chancellor for Research.
