Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) is recruiting for a Marketing Manager (Public Information Manager). The incumbent will lead a team of creative professionals to develop, execute and continually evaluate the Airport’s marketing programs and initiatives that drive growth in passengers, non-airline revenue and awareness of the Airport’s value to the communities it serves. The Marketing Manager leads the Airport’s engagement in owned and paid media, including advertising, sponsorship programs, grassroots/experiential marketing, influencer and social media marketing, multimedia content development and production, and the Airport’s website. This position is also responsible for managing the Airport’s contract(s) with outside creative agencies and consultants. While this position is not primarily responsible for earned media and community outreach, the incumbent may be required to assist the Division by delivering public presentations, and serving as a Public Information Officer and/or representing the Airport at community events, including on evenings and weekends.
1. Education: Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, mass media communications, public relations, advertising, marketing or a closely related field.
2.Experience:Six (6) years of increasingly responsible journalism, mass media communications, public relations or public information experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience. Marketing experience in the aviation and/or travel and tourism industry (airport, airline, destination marketing organization, etc.) is preferred. Experience serving as a media spokesperson is a plus.
3.Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain California Driver License.

The candidate must be fingerprinted and qualify under all applicable TSA and Airport regulations.
The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Public Information Manager classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.
