In conjunction with and under the oversight of the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Development, the Director of Marketing and Sales is responsible for marketing University of Richmond Athletics. This position is also responsible for increasing attendance and creating a positive and exciting game day atmosphere with a focus on student marketing and attendance.
Responsible for the development, execution, and oversight of the marketing of all athletic program ticket sales to include:
Serve on the team tasked with annually meeting the department’s set revenue and attendance goals for football, men’s and women’s basketball
Act as a secondary contact for development and implementation of football and men’s basketball ticketing and in-game atmosphere marketing plan including coordinating anthem and halftime entertainment
Act as primary contact for the development and implementation of the women’s basketball ticketing and game atmosphere marketing plan
Develop and execute student promotional plan, including advertising and promotion, which is designed to meet the department’s goals for student attendance at football and men’s and women’s basketball.
Execute new and engaging campaigns around campus to build Spider spirit
Develop and execute the pre-game student tailgates and in-game attendance challenges.
Oversee content generation for weekly student e-newsletter.
Oversee and execute the Spiderlings Kids Club by planning events, attending community appearances to increase membership, organizing the membership list, etc.
Act as the primary contact in coordinating mascot and cheerleading appearances
Oversee all marketing interns and student assistants
Game Day Operations:
Manage game day operations and promotions for marketing, enhancing game day atmosphere and fan experience by executing game day scripts, organizing presentations and groups, coordinating spirit groups with the video board and managing on the field and on-court in-game elements.
Organize and execute game day contests and entertainment by booking all entertainment, developing contests and executing all items on game day.
Oversee all intern and student assistants assisting with game day marketing operations
Knowledge, skills, and ability:
Thorough knowledge of marketing, promotions, and sales strategies (as they pertain to college athletics) is required for this position.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to perform accurate detail-oriented work, the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population and strong interpersonal skills are required.
Adherence to all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations is required.
Requires work on weekends and nights during football, basketball, and lacrosse seasons
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $44,775.00 to 59,325.00 annually)
