JOB SUMMARY Point Loma Nazarene University is seeking motivated students interested in pursuing the Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology (MS-KIN) to serve as Graduate Assistant (GA) for Athletics Marketing & Communications with the PLNU Athletic Department. The Master of Science in Kinesiology is designed specifically to prepare career-focused professionals with advanced academic training in the dynamic and growing fields of exercise science, sport performance and sport management. One graduate assistant position is available within the MS-KIN program beginning August 1, 2019.

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Athletics Marketing & Communications position is a two-year position in which the GA will provide individual sport and department-wide assistance within a multi-sport environment. This includes, but is not limited to, promoting, executing, and recapping athletic contest and events, as well as general marketing and communications support within the athletic department. Candidates for the position will be highly organized and motivated creative thinkers with writing and graphic design skills, and who embrace the mission of PLNU through the integration of Christian faith. Specific assignments will be determined by the Senior Associate Athletic Director and the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications based on the staffing demands for supporting an NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic program. Graduate Assistants are employed on a ten-month appointment.

JOB STATUS Time: Part time

Compensation: This agreement includes a full tuition waiver for the MS-KIN program and a $10,000 per year stipend. The stipend and tuition waiver are considered taxable income. A two-year commitment is required.

Qualifications:
>Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Sport Management, Public Relations, or related degree/experience
>Competent writing skills
>Basic comprehension of sports and/or event marketing strategy
>Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of the university
>Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office)
Graphic Design competency & knowledge of design software (i.e. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

Responsibilities:
>Create and distribute promotional materials, game programs, etc.
>Assist with game administration duties at athletic contests
>Conduct post-game interviews, write bios and game recaps, game photo & video management Update, develop and maintain content on athletics website
>Assist with sponsor and donor relations/communications
